Dabur was founded in Bengal in the 1800s.



‘Dabur’ was founded by Ayurvedic practitioner SK Burman. His family moved to Kolkata from Punjab. He has made Ayurvedic remedies for illnesses like constipation, malaria, and cholera. Based on studies, he has created the formulas for that himself. He also rode a bicycle to sell the prepared medications. After then, he was referred to as “Dabur.” In other words, “Burman” and “Doctor” are joined to form the name Dabur. From tiny beginnings, the trip has progressed to large-scale production.

Thus, in 1884, he founded a business called Dabur, which quickly gained popularity. The first Dabur Company production hall opened its doors in 1896.

Grasping a fifth generation Dabur

Following the death of SK Burman in 1907, the Dabur Company was managed by his son CL Burman, who was followed in turn by his sons BC and RC. Aditya Burman, the fifth generation heir, is currently in charge of Dabur’s management.



Dabur relocated its activities to Faridabad, which is close to Delhi, the capital, in 1972. This task has been taken up by GC Burman.

As a result, Dabur’s company has grown since then. It created medications to treat cancer in 1993. For that, a plant from Himachal Pradesh has been used.

It subsequently went public in 1994. According to reports, investors are responding to the shares with enormous enthusiasm. The SK Burman family is currently managing this company.
