Ingredients

  • Dates (nut removed) – 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 pinch
  • Coconut milk – 1 cup
  • Chopped jaggery – 1/4 cup
  • Green camphor – 1 pinch
  • Salt – 1 pinch

Preparation Method

  • First, Grind the pitted dates into powder and add coconut milk and grind them in a mixer.Once the jaggery has dissolved in a little water, strain it in a metal strainer to remove the dust.
  • In a pan or nonstick tawa, add ground dates and jaggery water along with coconut milk and bring to a boil.
  • Put a pinch of green camphor between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze it well and put it in boiling payasam, sprinkle cardamom powder and add a pinch of salt and mix well and switch off the stove.

Note

  • Grind the coconut flour with some hot water in a mixer and put it in a metal filter and squeeze it and use the first filtered coconut milk. You can also use coconut milk that is readily available in supermarkets.
  • Adding a pinch of salt will bring out the vellum taste. You can also use some honey instead of jaggery if required.
