Major vs Minor Arcana
Major Arcana — 22 cards (Fool, Magician, Empress, Lovers, Death, Star, Sun, Moon, World, …). The big turning points of a life. Minor Arcana — 56 cards in four suits (Cups, Pentacles, Swords, Wands). The smaller events of daily life — money, relationships, work, spirit.
How a reading goes
1. A quiet place, the deck in your hands. 2. One clear question — not ‘what is going to happen to me?’ but something like ‘what should I watch for in this job change?’ 3. Shuffle and draw 3 cards (past / present / future). 4. Read the meanings. 5. Hold the outcome in mind and think it through yourself.
The simple three-card spread
For beginners, leave the Celtic Cross alone — three cards is enough. Card 1: where you are now. Card 2: the challenge or obstacle. Card 3: the likely outcome or the guidance. A clear story emerges in 5–10 minutes.
When not to read
While you are emotional — angry, bitter, in tears. Under the influence of drink or drugs. Asking the same question over and over (‘does she love me?’ ten times) — the deck will laugh at you. One question, one reading, and only again a week later.
The future is not carved in stone
Tarot is a mirror. It shows what happens if the present energy simply continues. But change your decisions or your actions and the future changes with them. That is why there is nothing to fear even when the Death card turns up — its true meaning is ‘the end of one state and a new beginning’.
