Actress Gautami has filed a petition in the Chennai High Court alleging that she sold agricultural land in Kottaiyur village in the Sriperumbudur area next to Chennai in 2016 for Rs 4.10 crore. In this regard, the National Income Tax Assessment Center in Delhi had in September last year issued an order estimating the revenue of agricultural land at Rs 11.17 crore. She also pointed out that the particular amount will not come under capital gain and that she had assessed her income for that period as Rs. 34.88 lakhs and paid taxes of Rs. 9.14 lakhs including interest.
Verdict:
Following the order, he said that 6 of his bank accounts had been frozen and asked him to remove the bank account freeze as he had been harmed.
Judge M Dantapani, who heard the case, has ordered the Income Tax Department to quash the order to freeze 6 bank accounts of actress Gautami after paying 25 percent capital gains tax.
Further, the judge adjourned the hearing for four weeks, suspending the proceedings of the assessment order on the condition that the remaining fee is paid within four weeks.
