Village Vintage Recipe, Mutton Urundai Kulambu

Nowadays many prefer village style cooking. Everyone who eats mutton knows that mutton kola balls are a wonderful delicacy.

It is a food that children love to eat as they love to eat anything dipped in gravy. Mutton is rich in protein.Mutton kola urundai is very popular in non vegetarian.It is dropped in gravy to make delicious mutton urundai kulambu.

Ingredients

  • Mutton Keema – 1 kg
  • Coconut – ½ size
  • Onion – 6
  • Tomatoes – 4
  • Chili powder – 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 3 tsp
  • Coriander and curry leaves – a bunch
  • Turmeric powder – pinch
  • Aniseed – 2 pieces
  • Cinnamon – 3
  • Gram dal – a handful
  • Salt –as required.

Preparation Method

  • First cook the mutton keema,once cooked ,cool it and put them in a mixer and grind them well.
  • Grind the coconut well and  Grind onion,coriander and curry leaves,ginger and garlic into a paste. separately grind the broken gram dal into powder.
  • Put the ground curry pieces in a bowl and mix with onion,chilli powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder(this is half of the amount taken),broken gram dall powder,required amount of salt,a little coriander and curry leaves.Bring this into balls and steam mixture to a small boil.
  • After leaving the oil in the gravy vessel and it dries up, add cinnamon,aniseedmhen add onion and sauté. Once the onions are fried,add ginger and garlic paste and then add tomatoes.then add chilli powder,coriander powder,turmeric powder and sauté well.Then add grated coconut and sauté well and add required amount of water.Add coriander and curry leaves.
  • Once the gravy boils well add the steamed balls and keep the heat low. Keep it for 5 minutes and then take it off.the Delicious mutton urundai gravy is ready.
