Early marriage & joint family burden struggles inspiring journey of RJ Balaji!

Born on June 20, 1985, his birth name was Balaji Patturaj. Balaji is a well-known figure from the recent floods in Chennai, where the hashtag #imicro trended globally.

After failing his 12th grade, he went on to earn a B.Sc. in computer science and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from Coimbatore’s Amrita School of Communication.

He tried out for Radio Mirchi (Coimbatore) by singing a gaana song after seeing an advertisement in the newspaper for a radio jockey position, but he was not chosen. In late 2006, he was indeed chosen.

At the age of 21, he tied the knot and became a father to a 3-year-old kid named Manath.

Throughout his life in Chennai, he attended ten schools, lived in 27 residences, and moved around the city.

When he was asked to prepare a report after joining NDTV, the 56-word paper had 47 grammatical errors.

Hello Coimbatore, a three-hour morning trip, was his debut performance. Four years later, he left and returned to Chennai.

After beginning his career at BIG FM, he launched his own prime-time program, Take It Easy and Cross Talk, in which he made telephone prank calls to viewers. The 120 Rs show was also a big success.

He acted in several big-budget blockbusters, including Jil Jung Juck, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, and Theeya Velai Seyanum Kumaru. For the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, he was even nominated for a SIIMA Award in the Best Comedian category.

His other endeavors include: creating “Panjumittai Productions,” a YouTube channel where he posts brief videos addressing current issues; playing in the 2015 Celebrity Cricket League; contributing to Ananda Vikatan and Raghava Lawrence’s campaign “Aram Seiya Virumbu”; and providing an introduction for “The Madras Song,” a tribute to the 375th anniversary of Chennai.
