Her father was from Ranni and he is the Principal Advisor in the Ministry of Agriculture and her mother is from Kottayam and an economics teacher. She did her schooling at Convent of Jesus and Mary School, New Delhi. She graduated from St.Stephens College, New Delhi in B.A. Honours. She is a bright student since her childhood. Initially, her aim was to become an IAS officer. She is very much attracted to the English language which is literally seen in her Facebook page. At present, she lives in Munnar, Kerala.

She got married to Chris Abraham in 2015 who is a doctor by profession. Since college days both of them fell in love with each other. After getting settled in their respected field they got married.

Right after completing her graduation Merin started to attend coaching centre at Mukherjee Nagar, New Delhi. She cracked the UPSC Civil Service Exam in 2012 and secured 188th rank all over India. She was given with four choices-IAS, IFS, IRS, and IPS. Since she belongs to General category she couldn’t able to chose IAS which is her dream from childhood.

She chose IPS and got Home Cadre and got posted in Ernakulam after completing her training from Hyderabad. She was posted as ASP-Under training Officer. She is very dedicated to her work and can be reached 24*7.

She is the youngest IPS officer of Kerala cadre. She always wanted to have a job of dynamic nature with uniform and her hair tied to the back and with a respectful designation. She was selected from Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy to lead the Indian delegates for the Y20 summit.
