Gayatri Raghuram points out Rahman’s daughter in her post – Hijab Issue breaks out everywhere.

The incident of some Hindu organizations protesting against the wearing of hijab by Islamic students in most colleges has caused an uproar across India. Islamic students were not allowed to come to the college wearing Kulla, Barbuda, and burqa. Yet Islamic students have been wearing hijab to college. Following this, they were denied permission to go to the classroom. Students protested against this for several days. They then lodged a complaint with the High Court and the National Human Rights Commission. Hindutva students came wearing saffron towels saying that if Islamic students wear hijab, we will wear a saffron towel. Some students were wearing a saffron dupatta.

Thus there was a religious problem throughout the state of Karnataka. The state government then ordered the students to wear uniforms. In this situation, a few days ago, the Islamic students were wearing hijab and in response, the students who were wearing saffron towels were involved in a protest. As a result, the clash has erupted at PU colleges in various parts of Karnataka, including Shivamogga, Udupi, Mangalore, and Chikmagalur.

Hijab issue:

This led to clashes between Hindutva students and Islamic students. During the riots, Islamic students were attacked with stones.  Hindutva students were arrested as the Islamic students were injured. Then the police came immediately and conducted a lathi charge to clear the riot.

Gayatri Raghuram on Hijab:

Many BJP supporters have been insisting that uniforms should be worn in schools as various parties have been commenting on the issue. Gayatri Raghuram, the actress and head of the arts and culture wing of the BJP, said on the issue, ‘If the hijab is a school uniform, all students should wear it.

Points out Rahman’s daughter:

We are not against Muslims & Hijab. Wear them after school time. School uniforms should be followed. I supported AR Rahman’s daughter when she was recently trolled for wearing the hijab at a function. It is not wrong to follow the culture outside the school. But at school equality must be followed. Our clothing should not define who we are (rich or poor), that is why we have uniforms. But, it is noteworthy that Khadija was retaliating that “what I should wear is my freedom and my parents have given me complete freedom”.
