From Sundar Pichai to Chandrasekaran – 6 prestigious people are to be accoladed with Padma Bhushan in the trade and industry sector.

Every year Republic day honors the inspirational exemplars with accolades in the categories of science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc…

In this regard, this year’s awardees list was announced by president Ramnath Govind on 25th January. In the trade and industry sector, 6 prestigious people are to be awarded Padma Bhushan.

Padma Bhushan award:

Padma Bhushan is the third-highest award given by the Indian government following Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan. Every year, they are awarded to the people who excel or serve the best in particular categories.

6 exemplars:

This year in the category of trade and industry, 6 people are to be awarded as per the announcement. Likely, Padma Vibhushan is being awarded to India’s first chief defence staff General. Bipin Rawat died in the recent helicopter crash in Ooty.

Awardees of the year:

  • N. Chandrasekaran, chairperson of Tata Sons, the mother concern of Tata groups.
  • Cyrus Poona Walla, Serum Institute.
  • Krishna Ella and Smt.Suchitra Ella, Bharat Biotech.

For their great contribution to vaccine creation during the pandemic.

Following this, Sundar Pichai and Sathya Nadella are being awarded. Though they are in American companies it is ruled by Indians.

This year President has approved 128 Padma awards. This includes 4 Padma Vibhushan,17 Padma Bhushan, 107 Padma Shri awards. There are 34 female awardees, 10 NRI awardees, and 13 posthumous awards.
