Anjali Ameer was born into a strong Muslim family where her mother died in an accident when she was 8 months old. Her father remarried another woman and she was left out in her mother’s home. Once their family comes to know she was a transgender she left the house and came to Chennai by train. In a situation, she was forced to beg in the street.
In Chennai she went into transperson treatment, also she resumed studying and graduated in Social work from the Madurai Kamaraj University which is located in Tamilnadu. She did various jobs, worked in Beauty parlor, some time has been as a bar dancer. She got an offer for modeling and support from stage programmers.
When she was 22 years old she was doing modeling in Kozhikode. She wants to act in at least one movie. She got a call from the director Ram to act as a female lead in the movie Peranbu whereas Mammootty was the male lead. She was the first transwoman to act as a female lead in Indian cinema history.
