In 2012, Vijay imported Rolls-Royce from England and he filed a case in Chennai high court seeking the cancellation of entry tax for the car. This car costs 63 lakhs. Vijay paid his toll taxes for importing the car from America. The high court orders Vijay to pay the state entry tax to the state government to import the car from America. As per the order he paid 7.98 lakhs as the entry tax to the government.
Vijay embroiled in luxury car issue:
As per the Tamil Nadu commercial tax department, if paying the entry tax is delayed he will be fined Rs.30,20,000 i.e., 40 percent of the price. After this, he filed a case in the high court. Tamil Nadu commercial tax department is asked to submit the details about on what basis the penalty has been imposed to the court. This case is postponed to February 1.

The Chennai High Court has said that the Tamil Nadu Commercial Tax Department should ensure that no compulsory action is taken to collect the tax.
